We all know the importance of the bible right?

We know that it is what sanctifies us,
We know it is where faith comes from,
and we know that we behold the glory of Christ most through reading about him in the Word.

So why is it so hard to follow a bible reading plan? I have spent years trying different methods from allotting certain amount of chapters a day to a “year bible”. And still I never make it through the bible fully and consistently!

About four months ago I started a new plan. What happens is, you have 11 lists. Each list has different books on it. You read one chapter of each list a day. So you read 11 chapters a day. It takes about 45min for slow readers and less for the faster-paced reader.

Below is an explanation of the reading plan and attachments for the pages you would need to print and cut out.

There are two options; option LONG and option SHORT.

Option LONG:
This plan has 11 lists and so you read 11 chapters. The first day you will read: Matthew 1, Genesis 1, 1 cor. 1, 1 Thess. 1, Job 1, Psalm 1, Proverbs 1, Joshua 1, Isaiah 1, Daniel 1, and Acts 1.
What I love about this is that you are getting gospel, old testament, letters, wisdom literature, and letters in one sitting. The next day, you read chapter 2 of all the lists and so on.
Once a list is completed, you start over again. So on list 11 when you finish Romans you return to acts.

Option SHORT:
This plan has 4 lists. It is for the lighter readers or people who might feel overwhelmed by reading 11 chapters a day. With this plan, you read 4 chapters a day and still read a large amount of the bible through twice a year (however not the whole bible as in option LONG).
I recommend this list if you are frightened by option LONG, however when reading option LONG you are able to read through the entire bible about 2.5 times a year.

To Start:
-Print out the “cut-out” and lists for your option.
-Place “cut-out” in front of bible, journal, anywhere you will see all day
-Cut individual lists and place them as bookmarks in the book of the bible they start on (this way you can keep your place easily)
-Pray that God bless your reading and make you love his Word as the psalmist in 119 describes
-Start reading!

When reading these lists, don’t feel bad if you get a day behind. You can! It is very flexible. Also, just read it. The word of God is alive and sharper then a two-edged sword. Just get it into your brain even if you don’t totally understand what every prophet is talking about. Start reading and stop when necessary, but read!

God will bless you in your reading. He will sanctify you and I highly encourage you try this reading plan. Not because I am doing it and presume to be so intelligent, but I know how hard it is to make it through a reading plan. Give this one a try for a week and if you don’t like it, you still would have started 12 books of the bible and completely read one of them.

Go for it and pray that the Spirit of Christ make your meditation sweet!
